JOEL MORALES

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in February 1989, Joel Morales has been immersed in the world of art since childhood, thanks to the vision of his father, Pedro Morales, who decided to add a small classroom to their home in Trujillo Alto in 1993 to foster an interest in bonsai. A graduate in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, Joel has taken his passion for bonsai to international levels, demonstrating his skill in countries such as Indonesia, India, the United States, and Slovakia.
As an assistant to Master Pedro Morales, he has collaborated on projects in Puerto Rico, Mexico, the United States, Panama, Turkey, and Cuba, which has allowed him to enrich his knowledge and technique in the art of bonsai. His expertise in the field has been recognized through positions such as Vice President of BCI in 2007, WBFF in 2009, FELAB in 2014, and of the National Bonsai Festival from 2013 to the present.
Currently, Joel also stands out as curator of the Futago Bonsai Juyku Collection, where he continues to inspire new artists and enthusiasts to explore the ancient art of bonsai. His career reflects not only his dedication but also his commitment to the preservation and dissemination of this art.
