My name is José E. Rodríguez. My journey into the art of bonsai began in the summer of 2007, and by January 2008, I began working at Futago Bonsái.

Over the years, I have had the honor of representing Puerto Rico on various international stages:

  • 2009 (WBC, San Juan): Won 1st place in Shojin Amateur, 1st place in wiring, and 3rd place in the group relay.

  • 2010 (FELAB): Became the first Puerto Rican to win the New Talent award.

Since 2009, I have established myself as the bonsai artist with the most national awards, including top honors at the National Bonsai Exhibition and Shojin Tropical, among others. My specialty lies in the beauty and complexity of tropical trees.

I have shared my expertise through lectures and demonstrations in Florida, Houston, California, and Brazil. In 2017, I held my first solo exhibition at the San Juan Museum of Art and received a formal recognition from the Senate of Puerto Rico for my achievements in the art of bonsai, including being ranked as the 3rd best bonsai collection in Latin America.
